After the Mexican Revolution, the government thankfully granted the 1600 hectares of land to these displaced workers - stating that those who worked the land should own the land. They formed the "Ejido General Emilianio Zapata" in 1978. In 1994, the Ejido divided its 1600 hectares of real estate between its 55 men and women.
